Location: Temple Rodef Shalom Falls Church, VA

Reports to: Programming Supervisor

Dates: June 24, 2024-August 2, 2024, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Training Dates: June 20, 21, and 23rd 2024

Background:

Camp Rodef Shalom is a Jewish day camp in the heart of Falls Church, Virginia with over 40 years of history. With campers ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old, we offer a wide variety of activities and trips throughout the summer. Camp Rodef Shalom values inclusion and supports both campers and staff

Position Summary:

Camp Rodef Shalom is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, fun and motivated activity specialists to join our summer season! Specialists are responsible for designing age specific curricula for their specific activity area. Activities are 30-minutes long and should incorporate community building, skill-building and be fun and engaging for the appropriate ages. Specialists will work closely with bunk counselors to ensure all campers are engaged, participating and having fun this summer.

Specialties: • Arts & Crafts • Dance • Drama • Mad Science • Music • Outdoor Adventure • Sports • Woodworking (Need to Fill ASAP) • Yoga

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 before 9/30/2024
  • Complete Staff Training and available to work the entire camp session
  • Experience, expertise in and passion for the specialty is required
  • Experience working with children is required
  • Must be a strong leader, self motivated and able to work as a team player and to problem solve
  • Must be able to participate in physical activity for the duration of the camp day: be on feet for most of the day, be outside in heat and sun, etc.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create age-appropriate and varied written plans for the specialty and submit these to the program director on assigned dates
  • Exhibiting role model behavior for co-workers and campers
  • Collaborate with bunk counselors to instruct campers while they are at the specialty
  • Report any concerns or incidents to Leadership Team
  • Assist and participate in activities during off periods and on days when there are no specialties, with the guidance of the Leadership Team: help implement exciting activities (Field trip days, Fridays, Carnival Day, Color War week)
