From Caregiver to Breadwinner- IT Training Program

Marymount University’s Center for the Innovative Workforce is accepting applications for Cohort III from June 30th to August 15th. This program is designed specifically for caregivers, presently unemployed or underemployed, who have customer service skills, and are interested in starting a career in IT as a Help Desk Support Technician. (Note that participants must be able to comply with return-to-work policies if applicable.)

What You’ll Gain:

• A no-cost 12-week training program (in-person or online) on the fundamentals of IT to prepare for an entry-level IT helpdesk position
• CompTIA Tech+ certification
• Support with job search strategies, resumé building, and mock interviews
• Six months of mentorship through the job search and early career

Are You Eligible?

• Must be a caregiver (paid (ex. childcare or healthcare) or unpaid/volunteer (ex. parent/guardian, caring for children or elderly relatives)
• Currently unemployed or underemployed (working part-time or at a job that is below your skill ability or does not pay enough to support your family)
• Hold a high school diploma/GED or international equivalent
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S
• Ready to start training in September and can commit to 4 hours a week of training in addition to studying for exam outside of class hours (est. 4-5 hours)
• Proficient in English (written & verbal)
• Residing in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia) is preferred but not required (Participants will be required to report to Marymount’s Ballston campus for testing at the end of training)

Selection Process:

2. Await a selection email for an interview (in mid-August).
3. Complete the interview process.
4. Receive final selection notification for Cohort III.
