Job Title: Lifeguard III

Supervision: Pool Manager reviews work assignments, individuals are expected to work independently according to standard procedures and/or instructions

Job Description: Ensures the safety and health of the patrons by preventing accidents, responding to emergencies and performing daily custodial duties

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May not include all duties performed) 
    • Ensures the safety of the facility patrons
    • Enforces facility rules and county policies and procedures 
    • Performs registration desk duties such as membership and pass sales, collection of gate fees and checking patron’s identification cards. 
    • Responds to patron inquiries and concerns 
    • Performs general cleaning of the facility
    • Performs minor maintenance and repair of swimming pool and building equipment 
    • Inspects facility and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to facility manager 
    • Maintains daily records as outlined in the log book 
    • Participates and assists in the promotion of the facilities and special events 
    • Participates in the management of pool operations including water quality, as assigned 
    • Completes incident/accident reports as needed 
    • Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service sessions
    • Performs additional duties as assigned by the pool manager or aquatics manager
    • Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques 
    • Knowledge of water quality management and pool equipment operations 
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of facility rules, policies, and procedures 
    • Public relations and leadership skills 
    • Decision making skills 
    • Experience in cash management and cash register operations
    • A High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D
    • Current certification in Lifeguard Training
    • Work requires walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, sitting, lifting and moving heavy items, and operating office equipment. Lifeguarding responsibilities requires physical strength and agility to remove or assist a distressed person in the swimming pool.
    • Work involves exposure to swimming pool chemicals including chlorine, potential exposure to blood and body fluids at the scene of an injury or accident. Exposure to swimming pool chemicals may require the use of goggles, apron, rubber gloves, and facemasks.


Salary14.50 Hour
