Position Summary
MFA IS&T is seeking a skilled Network & Telecommunications Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team. This position will provide hands-on support, maintenance, and daily management for our network and telecommunications infrastructure, with a particular focus on network and telecommunications operations. The role emphasizes operational excellence, ensuring that network and telecommunications systems are optimized, reliable, and secure for continuous use. Additionally, the engineer will maintain up-to-date architectural and design documentation pertinent to operations.
The ideal candidate excels in technical troubleshooting, routine system maintenance, and documentation. They are organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This person will support day-to-day network operations, respond to incidents, and work collaboratively across multiple departments to maintain a stable and efficient operational environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Monitor, maintain, and optimize Cisco network and telecommunications infrastructure to ensure high performance and reliability.
2. Respond promptly to network and telecommunication incidents, troubleshooting issues related to Cisco routing, switching, and Cisco CUCM environments.
3. Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and configurations for Cisco equipment and telephony systems to minimize downtime and improve service quality.
4. Collaborate with Systems, InfoSec, and other teams to support daily operations and ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
5. Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps specific to Cisco technologies and telephony solutions.
6. Contribute to an operations-focused culture by adhering to standard operating procedures and proactive system monitoring.
7. Execute change management processes for updates or modifications in the network and telecom environment, minimizing impact on operations.
8. Use network management and monitoring tools to detect and resolve performance issues, potential outages, or security vulnerabilities.
9. Implement and enforce network security practices to protect sensitive data and maintain compliance.
10. Provide on-call support as needed, including 24x7 incident response for critical network and telecommunication issues.
11. Continuously evaluate system performance and suggest operational improvements related to Cisco network and CUCM infrastructure.
12. Create and update a knowledgebase of common operational issues and resolutions to enhance team efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field or 5 years of industry equivalent experience.
Certification
Relevant Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCNP Collaboration, or equivalent) is a plus.
Experience
Minimum five years of experience in Network or Telecommunications Engineering, primarily in operational roles.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco network operations, including routing, switching, and network security.
Minimum three years of direct experience with Cisco CUCM and voice communications infrastructure management.
Proven track record of daily operational support for complex Cisco network environments.
Strong knowledge of network administration fundamentals (CCNA level or higher).
Familiarity with network monitoring, management, and automation tools.
Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for routine operational tasks.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and security issues effectively.
Experience working in a Healthcare IT environment is strongly preferred.
Excellent documentation and writing skills.
