Job Description Summary
Under the general supervision of the Grounds and Maintenance Supervisor the incumbent is responsible for providing support to properties managed by Marymount Management Company. The Painter performs the full range of journey level functions as required. In addition to performing project related painting work, the incumbent performs job site evaluations, assigns available resources, monitors job progress, inspects the work performed and assumes responsibility for communicating job related problems to appropriate supervisor levels and/or resolves on-site concerns. In addition to patching and painting of walls, doors, ceilings, etc., duties include painting or finishing/refinishing of furniture, including use of spray booth and related equipment. Main duties include performance of all interior and exterior painting functions, acting as a liaison between contractor’s and the University for specific major maintenance projects, assignment and distribution of material to contractors and subsequent evaluation of work.
Shift:
Works variable hours including evenings and weekends depending on project and availability of work area.
Qualifications
Required/Preferred
Working knowledge of materials, equipment and tools of the painter's trade, including special knowledge of spray booth and related equipment and furniture (re) finishing.
Required
Working knowledge of trade related safety practices and methods, both standard and special practices related to spray booth and equipment.
Required
Skill in reading work project specifications and technical trade related manuals; and work instruction from supervisor, written in Standard English text.

Skill in using Basic English words and phrases and trade related technical vocabulary to complete forms, prepare job status reports and cost estimates.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate work activities with other crew members.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with interpersonal skills. Interact effectively and diplomatically with team members, peers, supervisors and all levels of University personnel.

Ability to stand, crawl, walk and stoop, push, pull and lift/lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs from floor to waist high and rotate upper torso. Ability to lift material and parts, up to 50lbs from shoulder to above head while standing on a ladder. Willingness to work in dirty or noisy conditions, in wet or humid weather or in extreme temperatures.

Ability to drive a pick-up truck or van. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's license.
