Medical Director, Cardiology Inpatient Services

Position Summary

   - Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines to ensure best practices.

   - Lead/ Supervise and support the medical staff in delivering patient-centered care.

   - Participate in patient rounds, case reviews, and interdisciplinary team meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

The Medical Director will monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided within each of the clinical service lines indicated below.  This includes but is not limited to supervision, oversight and medical direction to the following service lines:

 

   -  Provide oversight and direction to clinical and ancillary staff

   -  Implement quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

   - Analyze clinical data and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.

   - Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high standards of care.

   - Foster collaboration among different departments to ensure seamless patient care.

   - Coordinate with other medical directors, Chairs and department heads to integrate services.

   - Develop and maintain relationships with external healthcare providers and organizations.

   - Facilitate communication and information sharing among healthcare teams.

   - Lead and participate in educational and training programs for medical staff.

   - Contribute to the development of departmental budgets and resource allocation.

   - Represent the department in hospital committees and leadership meetings.

   - Address patient concerns and complaints, ensuring effective resolution.

   - Stay updated on the latest medical research and advancements in the field.

   - Ensure accurate and timely documentation of services performed by all providers in care

   -Provide leadership and oversight to the inpatient cardiology services, catheterization laboratory, non-invasive imaging including transesophageal echocardiograms, and the cardiac rehabilitation unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification in Cardiology.

   - Valid medical license to practice in the state.

Experience

   - Minimum of 3 years of clinical Leadership experience.

   - Proven leadership experience in a healthcare setting.

   - Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

   - Strong commitment to patient care and quality improvement.

Competencies

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the Medical Faculty Associates (MFA). Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer. Ability to read a map to travel to other practices.
