Overview:
 Betis Group is recruiting a Systems Administrator to support our IT infrastructure initiative with the United States Access Board (USAB), a federal agency ensuring accessibility standards compliance. The role involves maintaining a hybrid IT environment (VMware, cloud-based systems) and ensuring robust system security, reliability, and performance. The successful candidate will manage enterprise environments, including Microsoft 365, VMware virtualization, Active Directory, and cloud services.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage USAB’s cloud infrastructure, VMware environments, Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune), Active Directory, and server systems.
  • Perform lifecycle management, patching, and security configurations aligned with federal standards (FISMA, NIST).
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, diagnose and resolve system issues, and document system configurations comprehensively.
  • Maintain data backups, disaster recovery plans, and security incident response protocols.
  • Provide expert support for Microsoft Teams and associated telephony features.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a mid- to senior-level Systems Administrator supporting enterprise-level government IT environments.
  • Expertise with VMware vCenter, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, cloud technologies, backup solutions, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Demonstrated ability in configuration management, security monitoring, and federal compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview Records Management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal IT standards (FISMA, NIST) and best practices for security and compliance.

Work Location:

  • On-site support at US Access Board, 1331 F Street NW, Suite 1000, Washington, DC 20004.
  • Routine schedule: 9-hour workdays (including 1-hour lunch), between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern, Monday-Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
  • Telework permitted up to two days per week; full-time telework not available. Flexibility required to support special projects and on-call situations outside regular business hours.

About USAB:

The United States Access Board (USAB) is an independent federal agency focused on ensuring accessibility to federally funded facilities, transit vehicles, telecommunications equipment, and electronic/information technology. USAB develops and enforces accessibility guidelines under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 255 of the Communications Act. It provides technical assistance, training, and authoritative guidelines related to accessible design.

Overview of Opportunity or Scope of Work:

This project involves providing comprehensive IT support services including web application development, system administration, cybersecurity support, desktop/helpdesk support, and program management. The infrastructure comprises a mix of cloud (FedRAMP-certified) and on-premises VMware servers, networking equipment, and various COTS applications supporting approximately 50 users.

This project supports USAB’s Office of Information Technology (OIT), providing comprehensive IT and network infrastructure support services, including:

  • Web Application Development
  • Section 508 Compliance Expertise
  • Technical Helpdesk/Desktop Support
  • Systems Administration & Server Management
  • Network Management & Cybersecurity Support
  • Cloud Migration & Virtualization
  • Voice/Telephony & Mobile Device Management
  • Hardware/Software Asset Inventory Management
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup Management
  • Documentation Development and Technical Writing
  • Compliance with federal IT standards (FISMA, NIST)

USAB operates a hybrid IT environment that includes:

  • On-premises data center (VMware, servers, network equipment)
  • FedRAMP-certified Cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure)
  • Microsoft Office 365 (E5 and F3 plans)
  • Mobile and telephony devices
  • Around 50 users at USAB

  • Routine work schedule: 9-hour days (including 1-hour lunch) between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern, Monday-Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
  • Option to telework up to two days per week (full-time telework not permitted).
  • Contractor schedule adjustments may be required to support special projects, upgrades, major outages, or provide 24/7 on-call support as needed.

Key Responsibilities Across Roles: 

  • Regular attendance and participation in meetings, teleconferences, and working groups
  • Proactive communication, collaboration, and reporting to government and contractor leadership
  • Strict adherence to federal compliance standards, including FISMA, NIST guidelines, and Section 508 compliance
  • Maintenance of documentation, configuration management standards, and accurate hardware/software inventory

Employment Details:

  • Anticipated start date: Around September 2025
  • Contract duration:
    • One-year base period
    • Three optional 12-month renewal periods
  • Candidates must be prepared for a phased-in onboarding process.

Special Requirements:

  • Candidates must have U.S. citizenship or appropriate eligibility to work on federal contracts.
  • Positions involve potential on-call support or availability beyond standard hours, as directed by USAB.

Successful candidates for all roles will possess:

 

  • Strong experience working within federally regulated environments, familiar with government contracting best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage or contribute effectively to complex IT projects within defined compliance and security frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication, documentation, and organizational skills, with a proven track record of responsiveness to federal stakeholders.
  • Willingness to adapt schedules and duties according to government requirements.

Any 9 hour shift between 8am - 5pm (with an hour lunch break)
